Boilers & Central Heating

Combination boilers

Combi boilers provide central heating and hot water all in one highly efficient unit, without the need for a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard or a cold water tank in the loft. The combi boiler is now the most popular choice of boiler in the UK and is cost saving as you only heat the hot water that you need. The only downside to a combi is where there is high hot water demand (2 or more bathrooms) a combi may not be able to provide enough water to heat 2 or 3 taps at once, this depends also on the output of the combi and the incoming mains pressure/flow to the property, this is always checked on our first visit prior to quoting.

Conventional/Regular boilers

Regular boilers are the simplest types of boiler and previously have been installed in the majority of UK homes. Also called 'heat only boilers' they do just that heat water, this is then split to feed water to your radiators and to a hot water cylinder (for your hot taps). A system with a hot water cylinder has the benefit of having an immersion (emergancy) heater fitted which allows a backup to heat hot water should the boiler fail. Also you can pull hot water from multiple taps at the same time without any great loss of pressure, since you have a large store of hot water.
